  • Greetings all!!! Just a wee update to let you all know that I now reside in Chicago, Illinois!  It worked out for me to come serve at Headquarters for four months right now!  I really like living with Kendalyn, even though she's been at Northwoods Training Center for a bit!  She returns Friday and I'm very excited!!!!  So I'm here until the end of May right now!!!

Right now I'm serving in the ATI Department in the call center.  I will be assisting the families with ATI questions, filing, answering telephones and reenrolling families!!!  Today we just finished sending out all the reenrollment forms - almost 3000 of them!  We had a great team helping and praise the Lord it's all sent out!!!

So that's the update so far!  Have a wonderful rest of the winter!!!  Aleita

  •  Dad & Mama's 25th Anniversary Celebration!!!

On January 5th we put together a little celebration for our parents 25th anniversary.  Their anniversary was actually August 28th but only Jevenn was here as I was in Taiwan, Kendalyn in Chicago and Kerzdenn in Texas!  So we had lots of fun and a total of 60 people attended.  Our gracious neighbors, Ron & Wanda Dancey allowed us to host the party in their large home.  Actually this is the home that we seriouly considered buying when we first moved to Delburne!!  Enjoy the photos!

Kendalyn & I played our harp - first performance in a little while!! :D

    Radio Jumble

I wrote a radio jumble about our life so we're reading it here!!  It goes from a documentary to a cook show, to an exercise show to mechanical advice!  Really fun!

We hung Dad & Mom's wedding pictures up.  And the above picture is a friend of mine, Daelynn Huber!

The couple themselves!!!  Here's they're sharing about how they met and what God has done in their life!

    Quite a group

We were so grateful for the Dancey's opening up their home for this special celebration.  Below are two adorable girls, Pearl & Clara.  I had fun playing x's and o's with Pearl!  The squeal of delight when she won was so cute!

    Pearl & Clara The Quilt!!

This is a Story Quilt - each block tells a story!  A good friend, Eleanor Bertin headed up this project with all of us pitching in.  Mom loves telling stories so this is perfect for her!  Come see us and she'll tell you the story!!

    Skit 1

Eleanor Bertin also wrote a poem about Mom & Dad's life so we acted it out.  Kendalyn is Mom and Kerzdenn plays Dad.  Jevenn and I did all the other parts.  Below is Dad's 'sister' introducing Mom to Dad's mom (me).  We didn't have enough girls so Jevenn doubled for our aunt! =D

We had an awesome time putting this party together and we thank God for our wonderful parents!!!!

  •  Merry christmas everyone!!

Wow!  What a wonderful, Difficult, challenging, exciting, unexpected year!!!  the Lord has taught Me how to depend on Him more through many exciting adventures!  the Lord allowed me to spend 6 months at home for the beginning of the year - stretching but I was able to write 3 portfolios and earn college credit

I attended Journey to the heart in May - a wonderful opportunity I would encourage all to go.  Since then the Lord has continued to peal away layers like an onion!!  God has shown me several areas to work on but the biggest being just to abide in him.  I served under Mr. norvell for a time and he always said that we need to take the knowledge from our head and put it in our hearts!  =D

Then the Lord opened up the opportunity to be in Taiwan, which you all know about if you've been reading my xanga updates!  I am so thankful to have had that opportunity - so exciting!!!

and last but not least it's been a blessing to have everyone home for Christmas - enjoy the photos!!  May the Lord richly bless you all in the year 2008!Aleita Aleita 2

  • My New Hair Style!

Just a quick update on my health!  I'm not doing very well - my ear infection is getting worse!  It's a good opportunity to trust the Lord!  I would appreciate your prayers as this has been a challenging time!

Well the time has come to share some more experiences from Taiwan!  On today's schedule is.........My New Hair Style!!!!  I permed my hair - it was so cheap!   So here's the process!  Jessica helped me explain to the non-speaking English hair dresser what we wanted - it took a while!  So I had my hair shortened, thinned and washed!

    Perm - #1 The beginning - do I look nervous?Perm - #2

No my hair isn't burning off!  It was...um...doing something!

Okay so here they asked me to go around the corner and this is what I saw.  "Surely they wouldn't hook me up on that thing - it looks like something I saw in a 60's show!  Yikes!"  But they did - I felt like I had a ton of bricks on my head!  =D

    Perm - #6 Perm - #7 Perm - #8 Perm - #9 Perm - #10 Perm - #11

This guy took my hair out of the rollers, rolled them up and put chemicals on it.  The other picture is the finished wet look.  After some mousse, blow drying and styling it was very nice!

    Perm - #12 Perm - #13

And...<drum roll please>...the final result!  Very nice!

Perm - #14 It was a grand experience and now I'm learning how to style it - I like it a lot!  =D Hope you enjoyed!

  • The Latest Update – Home Again!

Well hello there friends!  I’m back in Canada again – surprise, surprise!  Actually it was a surprise for me too!  Little did I know that a week after I returned from Hong Kong I would be back in Canada.  Here’s how it went:

The flight back to Taiwan went pretty well and my ear didn’t hurt too much!  I really enjoyed myself with the Hung Family in Hong Kong but was so glad to get back to my Taiwan “family”!!!  I always told them they needed this Canadian to balance them out (the reaction was great!). J Anyways, Eric & Lucas picked me up and I delighted with how the weather had cooled down!!!  Aw….fall has come!!  I was not feeling very good so I tried to get some rest!  I had a little more energy for my Monday school, which was great!  I loved teaching those children!  The thought during the day was “Temporary” - a funny thought, I mused, but went about my day.  I was losing my strength by the end of the day again and went for my doctor’s appt.  The doctor said I had a wall of black in my ear and if I didn’t get better in 4 weeks I would probably need surgery!  SURGERY!!!!  Yikes!!  Well, I knew if I needed surgery I would probably go home!!  When we got back to the school I went from bad to worse and knew I wouldn’t be able to work the next day.  I asked our team leader, Wes Dudley, if I could have the next day off and he said he wanted to talk to me.  Wes explained they he wanted me to get better over serving in Taiwan so if I needed to go home and that was what God was calling me to do I should do it.  I felt this was a confirmation and talked to my parents because I knew I wasn’t getting better, only worse.  My parents agreed that I should come home as soon as my plane ticket could be changed.  So my new ticket was emailed to me Friday morning and I left Saturday afternoon.  It was extremely hard saying goodbye to everyone – I had learned to work with them and appreciate them very much!  And I would miss the lovely English Village too – especially the airport, it was awesome being a flight attendant!  In fact it was so cool to be Flight Attendant, Pilot, Banker, Hotel Manager, Store Clerk, Doctor, Nurse, Drama Queen, Science Professor and Cook!!!

So I’m home as of October 27th, and what have I been doing????  Well………sleeping, just finished unpacking today, sleeping, helping with dishes and laundry and lots more sleeping.  Just last night I slept for 14 hours!  The flight home did not go too well and my ears complained the whole way but I made it, praise the Lord.  Only by His strength and grace.  I have seen my doctor and as he was unsure of what the problem was, besides a major ear infection, he’s starting over again so I’m back on medication.  He explained that both my ears were bleeding and though there was wax in the one he didn’t want to wash it out for fear of getting water in the ear drum.  So I’ll keep you all updated!

Coming up…..my next report will be featuring pictures and my new hair style so stay tune!!!
